Happy Valentine’s Day!

We have a little treat for all of our patrons today at the library. The Carleton Place Public Library Teen Advisory Group this year consists of six teens who are always working hard to imagine new things they can do for the library. Back in January, they had the idea that it would be nice to give something back—to make people happy on Valentine’s Day, even if they’re not expecting a paper card or box of chocolates.

Today, we will have a basket of sweet treats for anyone who drops in, each one tagged with a little “love” note from the TAG group. They spent their last meeting getting these ready, and while they won’t be here to hand them out all day (they’re all in school today), we know they’re looking forward to hearing if people enjoyed them.

So, stop in today and pick up a Valentine from the TAG group. Adults preferred (the kids will get stuff at school), but they’re here for anyone.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the CP Library TAG group!

(And if you’re looking for a last minute non-candy Valentine treat idea, why not take a look at these ideas from Say Yes.)

Bake Sale!

We’re having a bake sale at the library this weekend!  Join us on Saturday, November 10th from 1-3pm for our “Sweet Saturday Bake Sale”. All the goodies will be made by the members of our Teen Advisory Group, and the proceeds are going toward their slush fund so that they can offer some extra special programs in the new year.

Our Teen Advisory Group is quite active this year, helping out at various library events, as well as hosting their own Christmas Fun Drop In event on Saturday, December 15 from 10am – noon. They’ve been working on games, crafts, stories and more for this fun day, so make sure to keep your eyes posted for more details in the coming weeks.

This is the second year for our Teen Advisory Group, which is made up of teens from both local high schools who are earning volunteer hours, but also earning a sense of pride in designing and carrying out a variety of programs that make our library an even more exciting place to visit. They work hard, are self-guided, and have the library’s best interests in mind at all times. If you see a group of active teens when you visit the library, chances are, it’s the TAG group. We love this group, and this is a great way for them to take ownership of their plans. And trust us, they have lots of plans for 2019!

So, if you’re in need of a tasty treat after some Saturday morning shopping, make sure to drop by the library with a few loonies and toonies. It’s bound to be a sweet day!
