Magic Workshop

Yes, this program is coming to us REALLY soon, but we had a great opportunity to work with Ryan Pilling, and we jumped on it!

Join us on Saturday, April 6 at 2pm for this fantastic magic workshop! Here’s what it’s all about:

“Magic Tricks You Can Do” with magician Ryan Pilling shares the secrets of simple fun magic tricks you can learn to amaze your friends and family. We use ordinary objects like coins, napkins, and straws to make extra-ordinary magic! Along the way we’ll learn speaking skills, build confidence, and share plenty of laughs together!

Ryan is a magician new to Ottawa, but has been practicing the art for over twenty years. He got his start with a magic book from his local library, which inspired him to be a lifelong reader and learner, collecting thousands of magic books to discover the secrets of past master magicians. It all began with a few simple tricks… just like these!

This hands-on workshop is ideal for ages 8 to 12, and is a great opportunity for adults to join in and learn as well. All materials are provided and no previous experience necessary.

We’re taking registrations starting today for 8 – 12 year olds who are interested some magic from a pro! This is a FREE workshop, so spaces are limited and will fill up quickly. Make sure to give us a call today to register your aspiring magician! It’ll be a magical afternoon!

It was Magical

Excitement is in the air!  It’s Magic Show Day! I’m Agent G., and I’m ready!!  Bring on the special effects!  Bring on the card tricks!  Bring on the Orange Crush (it’s warm…I’m thirsty.)

Yes!  I’ll be able to see everything from the front row! Hey wait a minute….. where is everyone else?  Doesn’t the show start at 10am???

Just perfect…..comfy seating…..no tall person sitting it front of me……the A/C is going full blast. Makes me happy to be a Gnomebrarian!

Uhhh….still waiting. (cricket chirps inserted here)

I always wanted to be a star! Look out Amazing Corbin…..here comes Agent G.!

If I was a little taller, I could see if anyone was walking over from the parking lot. Should have worn my tall boots today!

Glad that cute girl Emma was here to keep me company. Look at that smile!  I wonder if she’s interested in shorter guys?

Hey look! That Amazing Corbin is wearing almost the same thing I am! Good thing I didn’t wear my black pants today!

All right! The show has started. Oh….where did all these tall kids come from???

This kid was good. No experience or anything!

And the crowd went wild…….well, maybe not wild.

There he is, The Amazing Corbin, explaining his next trick…..

And the crowd went wild………Hmmmmm….what’s going on with this crowd??  The guy is FANTASTIC!!!!!

Then, this cute girl helped out…..

But, uh…..the trick got a little out of hand.  At least she tried….and she was SO cute!

The crowd really DID go wild this time, or at least, they were polite in their wildness. Look at those hands going up!

This little boy was magic genius!  Corbin didn’t even know how he was doing everything…..but the kids watching sure did!

And for the grand finale….the curtains started to open.  I was holding my breath……what were they going to do????

A hush came over the audience.  Do you think she KNEW what they were going to do to her?  She looked so happy……..

I don’t think I like the look on that boy’s face.  He seems too happy…..what are they planning?????

The Amazing Corbin checks his Magic for Dummies book to be sure he knows what to do…..

And the trick begins……..

……..and she gets up on the board….will The Amazing Corbin be able to levitate her??????

Your have to check our Facebook page to see the video!!

Just like magic!

Picture this…..a warm July morning, nearly three weeks into the summer holidays, and the kids have nothing to do.  It’s not the weekend, so getting out to enjoy the Farmer’s Market or a summer fair may not be on the agenda quite yet. And remember those kids?  They’re still complaining… I’m bored! Why can’t we go somewhere? I’m tired of swimming all day!

We thought of that and planned a mid-week event for kids of all ages! (Yes, even moms will enjoy this!)  Join us on Thursday, July 19th for THE AMAZING CORBIN AND THE MAGNIFICENT MYSTERY AND MAGIC SHOW at the Carleton Place Town Hall Auditorium.  The show starts at 10am and will be filled with all kinds of fun tricks, laughs and amazement! You won’t believe your eyes as The Amazing Corbin shares his incredible talent with us…and it’s all a part of our great library summer program!

Yes….you’ll have to buy a ticket, but you can get one (or two, or twelve) right now at the library for only $3 each (adults and children). And this is the only library event that will cost you anything this summer, so why not come out and enjoy this fun morning with your kids.  They’ll stop whining and I can almost guarantee they’ll want to come by the library later to take out magic books!  Just think….a whole morning of fun, and an entire afternoon where the kids are occupied and enjoying themselves (and maybe even learning a skill or two.  Who knows?  You might have the next Amazing  Corbin right in your own household!).

And of course, Agent G. already has his ticket and plans to sit in the front row (he’s not that tall, you know). Get your tickets and plan to have your picture taken with him that morning, too!

It’s going to be AMAZING!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, July 19th at 10am.  We’re so excited to welcome The Amazing Corbin and his Magnificent Mystery and Magic Show!! It’s going to be a great hour of magic tricks and fun.

As usual, we’ll be having this great event in the auditorium of the Carleton Place Town Hall.  Tickets are on sale now at the library for $3 each, or you’ll be able to get them on the morning of the event at the door for $4 each.  (Yes, parents and kids need tickets, please.)  This event is for kids aged 4 and up….

Hope to see you there!
