Free Comic Book Day

This coming Saturday is Free Comic Book Day/Superhero Saturday in Carleton Place, and we’re taking the part!

Our Teen Advisory Group has been busy planning, making decorations, and getting ready for the fun event, which will see superheroes young and old making a stop at the library. While here, they’ll have a chance to win a great superhero themed prize basket, take a photo at our fun photo wall, pick up a tasty snack, and get a free comic book, of course.

Pick up a mission card at the BIA office first! You can’t take part if you don’t have one. Let’s hope the weather holds out….this is such a fun day to see the town and dress up!

Free Comic Book Day!

Saturday, May 5th is Free Comic Book Day/Superhero Saturday in Carleton Place, and that means LOTS of super fun! Participants can pick up their mission card at the BIA office on Bridge Street, or Total Rhythm Dance Studios on Landsdowne Avenue starting at 10 am that day. No mission card, no comic books….so don’t forget! (Plus, the mission card tells you where all the comic books are!)

At the library, we’ll be handing out comic books, taking photos at our Superhero wall, providing water and super treats, and we’ll also give you a chance to win one of TWO great superhero themed prize baskets. You won’t want to miss it!

Our Teen Advisory Group has been working hard to make this a really special event at the library, so make sure to drop in and say hello. They’ll be here taking care of all the super participants. You can find out more about the Carleton Place event here.

Be super…come to the library that day!

Free Comic Book Day!

This weekend is Free Comic Book Day, and Carleton Place has taken a special spin on it. Not only will you be able to pick up a mission card that will lead you to all 30 free comic books, but we’re celebrating Local Heroes, as well! Isn’t that a great idea?

The whole event begins at 10am. Pick up your Mission Card at either end of the hunt: The BIA Office, or Total Rhythm Dance Studio. The line ups will be long at the beginning, so don’t feel like you have to start at the first store or stop on the mission card. Pick a place listed, and get going. But, you NEED a card to get a comic book. Don’t be disappointed!

Bridge Street will NOT be closed that day, so parents need to be watchful of their excited children. No need to rush from place to place, you’ll have plenty of time to get all of the comics–they’ve ordered extra this year! And don’t forget to stop in at one of the booths along the way to say hello (and thank you), to a local hero like an OPP officer, a Paramedic, or a volunteer! And yes, the Carleton Place Public Library is one of your stops! Make sure to drop in, wear a costume, and get a picture!

Mark your calendars for Saturday….it’s going to be fun!

Free Comic Book Day is Coming!

Yes, this year, the Carleton Place Public Library will be participating in the Free Comic Book Day put on by the BIA. We’re excited to announce not only will we have free comic books for all those young superheros to pick up, but we’re hosting a puppet show as well!

posterDrop by Reads Book Shop on Saturday, May 2nd at 11am to pick up your mission cards, then start collecting your free comic books around town. At the library, we’ll have not one, but TWO fantastic puppet shows by the people from Rock the Arts, one at 12:30 and another at 1:30pm. It’ll be a SUPERHERO SHOWDOWN!

Spaces are limited, so make sure to get here early!
