We’re coming up to a long weekend, and hopefully, it’ll be nice and warm. As always, the library will be closed for a few days. Here is the schedule to keep in mind:
FRIDAY, April 18 CLOSED
SATURDAY, April 19 Open 10am – 5pm
SUNDAY, April 20 CLOSED
MONDAY, April 21 CLOSED
If you need books, movies, museum passes, etc……make sure you drop into the library by Thursday, or plan to come by on Saturday. The blue return box will NOT be outside on the days we are closed, so please keep all returns until the days we are open. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged fines for those days we aren’t here. Enjoy your long weekend!

Have a safe and happy weekend!
It’s time for a Frivolous Friday post! And because it’s almost that time of year, I’m sharing a fun recipe I found for homemade Easter Creme Eggs! Yes, I know you’re just as egg-cited as I am!
There is a beautiful food blog called Not Without Salt, and the brilliant Ashley there has devised a “healthier” version of the Easter Creme Egg that you can make at home. Maybe a little trickier than popping to the store and picking up a single egg (or a bag full of the mini version, please!), but your friends and family will be amazed that you made these yourself!
You can read Ashley’s full recipe right here on the Food 52 blog. There are gorgeous photos and the instructions look simple enough to follow. I might even whip up a batch of these this weekend…you know, just to try in case they don’t turn out for Easter.
This morning is the first of two Easter Storytimes. I’m getting ready for a ton of kids to descend upon the library for fun Easter stories, some games and a craft.
Everything is decorated and the tables are set up so that the kids can make Easter cards to put into the bunny envelopes. If you’d like to make your own bunny envelopes, you can follow the easy link here. They are simple and pack a punch! And of course, the letter of the day is E!
We’ll be enjoying some nice easter treats, too. If you’d like your child (aged 2 – 5) to attend tomorrow, please give us a call! Registration is required!
It might have snowed a little this morning in Carleton Place, but we’re convinced that the nice weather is just around the corner! So, we’re celebrating spring at the library!
Our display windows are full of colour and happy things that we hope will make everyone feel cheery! Yes, some of the items will be used during our Easter Craft Night for the kids (which is already full, I’m afraid), but they’ll have fun trying to make their own versions!
This month, we’re also happy to be featuring artwork by local artist and patron, Donna Naprstek and her students. stop in and see what they’ve got on our wall this month. There’s everything from watercolour paintings to graphite sketches and maybe you’ll even find something you’d like to purchase!
Don’t forget, if you’re getting ready for Easter at the end of the month, we have lots of cookbooks and craft books to help get you started. You can also find some great ideas in our magazine section, so come in a browse and take home some inspiration!
We had a really fun Easter Storytime yesterday! Lots of kids showed up and we made our own Easter Bunny Costumes which many of them wore home. Today, we’ll have more little bunnies hop around the library for the second storytime of the week and then we’re done.
Don’t forget, the library will be closed Friday, April 2nd and Monday, April 5th. We will be open on Saturday, so drop in if you need some books. With the hot weather forecast for the weekend, I don’t plan on seeing many faces on Saturday. Enjoy the long weekend!
Okay Mother Nature, I don’t know if you are paying attention, but this is the view from our library office this morning! For the past few weeks, it has been feeling more and more like spring, so it is a bit of a shock to our systems to see all this white stuff coming down again this morning, which is April 6th, by the way, not April Fool’s Day! Oh well, I guess there can’t be too many more snowfalls, right? (Pretty please!)
Tomorrow night, we are having our Easter Craft night at the library and we’re all ready for a full house. I thought I’d let you in on a few of the crafts we’ll be making, such as the funny little purple rabbit made from folding paper and the sparkling egg chick card (which says “You Crack Me Up!”)
We’ve had a few of the crafts on display in our window boxes for the last week, just to get everyone into the crafting spirit, but pretty soon it’ll be time to add something new. Here is a little inspiration for those of you who aren’t quite ready for Easter yet.
