Reading Without Walls

Macmillan Publishing is running a month-long challenge to readers called “Reading Without Walls”. It runs through April, and is aimed at getting people to read outside of their comfort zone.

Their challenge includes:

  • reading a book with a character who doesn’t look like you, or doesn’t live like you do
  • reading a book about a topic you don’t know much about
  • reading a book in a format you don’t often use (graphic novel, eBook, audiobook etc.)

These are really simple challenges, and ones which can cover a wide variety of choices. Kids, adults…anyone can participate. The goal is to find out that there is a broad world out there, with many different types of books, genres, heroes, and subjects. If we only read the same things over and over, our worlds will remain pretty small. Give it a try!  You can register on their website and get reading today. You have all month to discover the world!
