February Fun!

January was a busy month at the library, with plenty of great “Lifelong Learning” seminars, including an ongoing creativity course, an introduction to Twitter, and a Family Finances seminar. February looks like it will be just as much fun…especially for adults!

While we start off the month with a Valentine’s Craft Night for kids, were continuing our Creativity Course, and looking forward to a special Facebook 101 seminar with Chantal Bechervaise of Take it Personel-ly. If you’ve been hesitant to get onto Facebook, or use it but don’t feel like you’re using it to its full potential, we have a few spaces left for this great introduction. If you took part in our Twitter 101 seminar, you know you’ll learn a lot about the site and how to use it, through Chantal’s easygoing manner and simple learning strategies. You can sign up for the course, which happens on Saturday, February 20th from 2-4pm, by calling us at 257-2702, or dropping by the library.

This will be a fascinating look into how you can successfully transition into retirement without feeling the financial stresses that can occur without enough planning. The course takes place on Saturday, February 13th at 10am, and registration is required, so sign up today. Spaces are limited!

We’re also getting excited about our regular February event called “Blind Date with a Book”, where you choose a book based only on a brief description! It’s always fun, and a little bit exciting to see what you’ll get when you take the book home and unwrap it. And this year, we’re letting kids and teens in on the action with a “Book Crush” just for them. Visit our fun displays when you drop in!20150202_132218And last but not least, we’re starting a fun new program called “Slow Mail”, where letters take the long way around. Write a letter, drop it off, and we’ll mail it back to you in ONE YEAR! What kind of mail is this? Maybe you’ll write yourself a letter of encouragement, or write a love letter to that special someone, or even a letter to your future self reminding you of your goals. Wouldn’t it be fun to see what you were thinking one year later? Pop in for more information.

As always, don’t forget our regular features, like our “Colour Yourself Calm” workshops on the 4th Wednesday of each month starting at 6:30pm, and our “Bridging the Generation Gap” book Club which is really taking off! (2nd Tuesday of each month, from 6-7:30pm).

We’ll also have our March Break calendar out early on this month, so make sure to pick one up to see all the fun we’re planning for March!
