This summer, the Carleton Place Public Library is taking part in a pilot project involving the TD Summer Reading Club. We’ve signed up to participate as a sister library, to share ideas, program knowledge and, hopefully, to lend support to another library in Canada. This project was devised in order to inform communities who run the TD Summer Reading Club, that this program takes place all across Canada. It’s not unique to our town, our township, or even our province. It happens all across Canada each summer, and I’m thrilled to say that we’ve been selected to participate in the pilot program this summer.
Our sister library?
We recently found out we’ll be paired with the Maskwacis Cultural College located in Hobbema, Alberta. The wonderful people there run the TD Summer Reading Club for four First Nation reserves! It’s going to be exciting to learn about the children and their communities in Alberta, and hopefully, we’ll have lots to share with them as well. Through interactive programs, our young readers will have a chance to connect, explore and discover all summer long!
We’ll keep you up to date as plans are made, but for now, we’re excited to have this wonderful opportunity to share with our new friends in Alberta. Eureka!
