Writers…pick up those pencils!

It’s time, writers! Today is the start of Camp NaNoWriMo!! We’re so excited that so many people came out for our Camp Kick-Off last week. We’re going to have EIGHT people writing with us this month. While not everyone will be coming to the library to write, we sure hope to see a few people on and off this month. We’ll have lots of things to do—something every day—-so if you attended the event, check your email this morning. It’s the start of your new adventure!

We have people writing mysteries, people doing historical fiction, memoir writers, personal histories, cyberpunk-fantasy-erotica ( wow!), and contemporary fiction. It’s a very diverse group, and they’re hoping to have a bit of support from each other as well as the library. So if you see someone in the Barbara Walsh room this month, hunched over a laptop, it’s one of our would-be authors possibly penning the next great novel. Yay for creativity!

We’ll check in with them periodically and keep everyone up to date on their progress.  50,000 words in one month is a BIG undertaking, but we know they can do it! Everyone is so dedicated! Happy writing, everyone!

  1. I wish that there was a group of writers in my area that could meet to support one another in Camp NaNoWriMo. Usually there is a decent group for NaNo in November, but last year was a flop for my area!

I hope that your writing group keeps going wonderfully. Please keep us updated!

    • Thanks, Amanda! We’re really excited to try this. It’s going to be a bit of a challenge to keep everyone together and writing, but hopefully, they’ll have so much fun, they’ll want to come back! You can always write with us in spirit, if you like! 🙂
