Book club meetings and food seem to go hand in hand. After all, if you’re sitting with a group of people discussing the latest piece of literary fiction, it’s nice to have something to nibble on. (Or, if you’re like a friend of mine and didn’t quite finish the book, she thinks a button which reads “I’m just here for the coffee” would be appropriate.) But lately, more and more book clubs are pairing their food/beverage choices with the theme of the book.
I came across this wonderful Christmas idea of hosting a book club based on Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL. And after, or during, you serve plum pudding! The Yes and Yes blog hosts Alicia from Jaybird, where she tells the tale of making the pudding and shares the recipe…with lovely pictures, too! I want to go home and make this right now! They’ve done quite a few interesting book/food combos in the past, so if you’re looking for more ideas, take a look at their Read//Eat series here.
Eat, drink, read, and be merry!
