It doesn’t need to be February for us to have book love. We always have book love here at the library!
Why not drop in this week and see what’s in the new bin, or on the sale table? We’d LOVE to see you!

It’s here….Valentine’s Craft Night! As usual, we’ll be making a lot of fun love-themed crafts, play some fun games and enjoy a few sweet treats.
Our take-home treat bags.
The spaces have been full for weeks, and I’m sure we’ll have a great time. For parents who are new to this….drop your child off and come back at 8pm. We’ll have fun, and you can have an hour to yourself!
Our little iLove Candy MP3 player….complete with jelly beans and peanut butter cups! YUM!
And don’t worry…there’ll be another craft night coming up in April….with a special theme this year! Happy Valentine’s Day!
If you’re seeing hearts around the library, you’re not alone. Of course, it’s February!
We’re getting ready for Valentine’s Craft Night with our young crafters, dropping by the Carleton Place Daycare to read to some very little ones and preparing for all kinds of great things coming up in March.
In the meantime, we have lots of fiction featuring romantic themes, craft books to help with those last minute cards, and plenty of relationship advice books.
Happy February!

On a special day like today (yes, it’s Valentine’s Day for those of you who forgot!), you might want to skip the fancy dinner and roses and stay home for a special games night. Why not break out the old Scrabble Board and try something new?
I came across this interesting board game remix from the wacky people at Hide-and-Seek. They take traditional games and spin them out into something brand new…and it’s as easy as just fashioning some new rules. They’ve taken Scrabble and made it into a group effort game where you must use popular acronyms to earn points. (The version they suggest might be a little risque for some, but you could even make this into a family version, getting the kids involved using texting lingo!). Or try their version of Monopoly (which is called Divorce….not especially aimed at Valentine’s Day, but probably fun.)
You can download the .PDF version of all the game remixes right here.
Have a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
Registration is now open for our Valentine’s Craft Night in February! I can’t believe that we are talking about Valentine’s Day already, but it’s just around the corner. We’re looking for kids aged 6 – 10 who like to spend a fun evening crafting, eating treats and playing a few games. Our craft night will be held Tuesday, February 9th from 7 – 8pm. Please call today to register because spaces are limited and we’re already filling up the list! This is always a fun event so tell your friends!
