It’s Elephant and Piggie Day!

Sadly, it’s our last babytime this morning.  We’ve had such fun little sweeties join us for the last six weeks that I’m going to miss them!

babiesAnd just because we couldn’t have a March Break week without inviting all our young storytime friends, it’s Elephant and Piggie Day!

The fabulous picture book author Mo Willems has created such a well loved series of books based on a pair of unlikely friends that we just had to celebrate them!

We’re having a drop-in all afternoon today (1:30pm-5:30pm) for parents and children aged 2 – 5. The library will be all decked out in these wonderful characters and there will be plenty of fun.

Stop by, do a craft, play a game, hear a story and take out some books.  It’ll be almost like storytime….without the sticks! (Storytime parents will know what this means…and probably be thrilled!)IMG_4173

We can’t wait to see you!

Sock Monkeys at the Library

You can never go wrong with monkeys.  Or puppets. Combine the two and you have magic! This week, we made sock monkey puppets and had crazy hair day for storytime.

After being inside for days because of the cold, many of the kids were happy to get out and do something fun. Needless to say, it was a wee bit loud at the library!

Stories, stories, stories!

storytime2

Storytime is starting again this week! We’re looking forward to having all the little ones back for stories, music, crafts and lots of laughter. As usual, storytime occurs every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 10 – 11am. With all of the snow we’ve been having, please listen to the radio on blustery mornings.  If the buses are cancelled, so is storytime.  (We’ll also post this on the Carleton Place Public Library Facebook page, so if you’re more likely to check that, please add us to your “likes”.

storytime3

This is for ages 2 – 5, but you’re welcome to bring younger children along for the session (they just won’t be able to do the craft portion). Registration for storytime is a must each week as spaces are limited, so please call us at 257-2702 to register the week ahead (if you can), or drop by the library and sign up in person. Welcome back to all our little ones and we’re looking forward to seeing some new faces in 2013!

Aliens everywhere….

It was just another storytime….or was it?  Aliens invaded the library this morning, but they were sparkly and cute. Just a taste of what goes on here each Wednesday and Thursday morning for 2 – 5 year olds.

Next week is our last storytime session for the season, and then we’ll start up again in January. It’ll be a Christmas theme and registration is required, but give us a call if you’re interested. We still have a few spaces!

Craft Gone Wrong

Ever have one of those days? I walked by a shelf, and saw this:

Or rather, it saw ME.  Guess I’ll have to get some super strong glue for this owl’s eyes. (Yes, it’s a toilet paper roll owl.)

The Man with the Big Shoes!

Wednesday evening was so much fun!  A very special friend came to the library to read a story to plenty of small friends in pajamas!

We gathered in the back room and listened as Ronald McDonald® read us stories and then talked with all the children afterward. It was such a fun evening, we’d love to do it again sometime!

Thanks so much to our friends at McDonald’s® for sharing this wonderful reading program with us! We had a great time!
