We’ve just completed the Forest of Reading Program at the Carleton Place Public Library, and there were some great books this year! If you aren’t familiar with the program, it is the only book award given to a Canadian children’s author that is voted on only by children! There are several levels for kids of all ages, and this year, our library participated in the Silver Birch, Silver Birch Express and Red Maple programs.
We just finished voting on April 23rd and this year, we picked the following winners at our local level:
Silver Birch Express : Dear Sylvia
Silver Birch Fiction : Newton and the Time Machine
Silver Birch Non-Fiction : Birds of Prey and Gold Medal for Weird (a TIE!)
Red Maple Fiction : Frost
