Have you heard the rumour that we’re closing? It’s true! The Carleton Place Public Library will be closing… for ONE WHOLE WEEK in November!
Okay, now that we have your attention, don’t panic. We’re only closing from November 12 – 17 to do a few renovations and an overhaul to our computer system. You might not notice most of our upgrades when we re-open, but we’re looking forward to them. First of all, we’re getting new carpet behind the front desk and in our program room. As you can tell from the photo below, it’s well worn where we stand and work.
And secondly, the computer upgrades are going to be very exciting. Yes, our library catalog that you access from home will probably look different at some point, and you may have difficulty accessing it while we’re switching over, but it’s going to look great in the end. Stay tuned for more information about that.
In the meantime, drop by and stock up on books, movies and magazines. While you won’t be able to come inside the building that week, our blue drop box will still be out each day, so you can return items that you have out. Don’t worry, we’ll try not to stamp your books for any date that week, but if we happen to, we won’t charge fines.
While we sincerely hope this closure won’t cause too many problems for people, we really appreciate how much our patrons use the library and we hope this will improve our services in the long run. If you have any other questions about the upgrade, the closure or our library services, feel free to drop by any time or give us a call. We’d love to talk to you!
